****************************
The OOPSLA Educators' Symposium is for professionals in industry and
academia who have a vested interest in object technology training and
education. This one-day symposium, held in conjunction with the main OOPSLA
conference, is a unique forum for trainers and educators to discuss their
needs and ideas for incorporating object technology into training plans and
courses. The Educators' Symposium facilitates the exchange of ideas in a
number of ways, including featured talks, paper presentations, activity
sessions, posters, demonstrations and other opportunities to exchange course
materials.
Trainers and educators in Object Technology from all levels of industry and
academia are invited to send submissions in any area of Object Technology
education and training including, but not limited to the following:
* Support for teaching and learning at a distance
* Support for self-directed study
* Interdisciplinary teaching and learning
* Facilitating a learning organization
* Active learning
* Teaching and learning techniques
* Use of resources, e.g. web sites, learning materials, evaluation
questionnaires and so on.
* Understanding of OO learning and training, i.e. how do our students
learn?
Selection will be based on clarity, originality, technical and educational
merit, and, most of all, potential relevance to other OO trainers and
educators - the review committee will look for ideas that can be utilized by
others at the Symposium.
